My cast would look like this –
- Matthew Mcconaughey – reprising his role as ‘Rust Cole’ from True Detective , a nihilist detective, contemplating life through the eyes of pessimism.
- Morgan Freeman – reprising his role from the movie Seven as ‘Detective Lieutenant William Somerset’, an old school wise detective.
- Christoph Waltz– as the perfect villain. His enunciation, masterful acting prowess and screen presence can certainly elevate him to a level of greet TV show villain.
The show would be set in the same locations as the first season of True detective – the state of Louisiana. It will have the same dark undertones of True Detective, Rust Cohle pessimism (Mcconaughey), old school wisdon of William Somerset and the addition of a new common enemy the manipulative Christoph Waltz ( like the Col. Hans landa in Inglorious Basterds.)
Somerset is retired now and all these years after the event of the movie Seven, he founds himself in a mundane routine that is devoid of all the action that he enjoyed being a NYC detective. Now, three murders in two weeks have shook the country. The murders were on the lines of seven deadly sins and had a similar feel to that of John Doe (Kevin Spacey who played the serial killer in Seven). All these murders are done in the state of Louisiana. Rust Cohle, who is now trying to live a peaceful life also catches the winds of these serial killings and finds a link of all of these to the murder committed by Errol Childress is a serial killer and follower of the twisted and brutal Tuttle cult, operating in Louisiana. Childress is the primary antagonist of the first season of True Detective.
Now, these two retired detectives paths cross and together they try to unhinge the mystery behind all of these murders. Somerset with his experience with the seven deadly sin murders and Cohle with his experience with the Carcosa murders works together and eventually finds about the mastermind behind all of this – enter Christoph Waltz.
Waltz plays a role of head of NGO based on the lines of religion is the face behind all the instigation of John Doe or Errol Childress. Now, he is upto something big. Infront of the world he is a devout chritian, a philanthropist and a gentle sould but the truth is he is the mastermind of all these twisted game.
Will Cohle and Somerset be able to unmask the reality of this monster (Waltz) or they will succumb to the demands of this menacing individual?
Find out in a show that is not picked up by HBO or any other cable network yet.
